Sabarthez, Cradle of HumanitySeptember 2, 2012
The Ritman Library is pleased to announce its patronage for the manifestation:
Sabarthez, Cradle of Humanity. Exhibition and conferences Tarascon-sur-Ariège, 7-20 September
Modern science has demonstrated that there are significant parallels between the laws governing the universe and the laws ruling the world, mankind, and even the atom. In Antiquity, especially according to the Hermetic tradition, reference was made to the inseparable connection between macrocosmos, cosmos and microcosmos in order to explain these universal relations. Thus the Emerald Tablet of Hermes Trismegistus, originally transmitted to the West in an Arabic version in the Middle Ages, states:
That which is above is like that which is below
In the caves of Sabarthez, there is evidence of an extraordinary human presence since Palaeolithic times. The paintings in the cave of Niaux, in the Ariège region, dating back to 13,000 years BC, may be counted among the most important in Europe. We may easily deduce that such frescos not only represent magic hunting rituals, but were, above all, the expression of a more profound feeling based on the intimate union of every being with life manifested around him. The exhibition Sabarthez, Cradle of Humanity shows that there is a living tradition present in our human DNA, a substantial unity that twins and joins human beings.
The exhibition and conferences dedicated to the living tradition of the Sabarthez clearly show the vitality and strength of human brotherhood that has inspired and continues to inspire mankind.
