De roep van het Rozenkruis – vier eeuwen levende traditie
This volume by Frans Smit offers a survey of the genesis of the Rosicrucian Manifestoes and a history of the Rosicrucian movements from the 17th through the 20th century. De Roep van het Rozekruis. Vier eeuwen levende traditie was originally published as the catalogue of an exhibition held in the Royal Library in The Hague which was curated by the BPH in collaboration with the Royal Library and the Lectorium Rosicrucianum. The chronology of the Rosicrucian movements added at the end was provided by the BPH.
De Roep van het Rozekruis examines such questions as: Who is Christian Rosenkreuz, the legendary founder of the Rosicrucian Brotherhood? What was the message expressed in the Rosicrucian Manifestoes? What has been the aim of the Rosicrucian movements throughout the centuries?
The accompanying exhibition was the was the largest ever on the theme of the Rosicrucian phenomenon over four centuries, showing a range of primary sources, both printed works and manuscripts, primarily from the collections of the BPH, but also drawing on the collections of partner institutions such as the Royal Library.
